You look really short. Can I ask how tall you are?
That's for me to know and you to find out - whenever we meet in person. ;) Suffice it to say that I wear heeled boots to most of my sessions (because up-the-nose is never a flattering angle for anyone!).
What is your photographic style?
I would describe my aesthetic as vibrant, authentic, and luminous. I was born and raised in sunny California and still chase after that happy, golden light whenever possible (less gloom and more love, Virginia, pleeeease?).
Did you study photography in college?
Yes and no. I actually majored in apparel design and fell in love with portrait and fashion photography along the way. Although I never actually changed my major, a lot of my fashion projects towards the end of college were photography-based.
How did you become a photographer?
I bought my first DSLR (a cute little red Canon EOS Rebel T3 nicknamed Brick) in 2012 to document a fiber arts project I made throughout the summer between my sophomore and junior years at Cornell. Although my early work was questionable at best, I basically shot everything and everyone whenever I got the chance, including various fashion projects, snapshots of friends and family, nature and landscapes on campus, and - of course - a lot of self-portraits that still lurk in a dark corner of Facebook. ;) Eventually, with a lot of practice and help from various books, online courses, and tutorials, I started getting the hang of things and was lucky enough to shoot my first wedding and paid portrait session during the fall semester of 2013.
What are you like during sessions?
I am a huge goofball and love to fill each session with warmth, fun, and laughs. At the same time, I am diligent to capture the best photos of you and am always keeping an eye out for beautiful and creative composition, authentic yet flattering posing, and ways to make the session as memorable and enjoyable for you as possible!
Where are you based, and what if I'm nowhere near you?
I am currently based in Alexandria, VA and mainly serve the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. I also love traveling to new places to shoot, so if you're planning a wedding or session outside of the DMV area, don't hesitate to reach out! I always try to keep travel fees as reasonable as possible.
How much would it cost for you to photograph my portrait/engagement/maternity/family session?
Portrait packages start at $375 and include a combination of high-resolution digital files, personal printing rights, and premium printed products, depending on the package chosen.
How much would it cost for you to photograph my wedding?
Wedding packages start at $1800 and include at least 6 hours of coverage, high-resolution digital files, and personal printing rights. Upgraded packages include a complimentary engagement session and a custom heirloom album. Second shooter coverage and additional hourly coverage vary by package.
I'm planning on eloping or having a small city hall wedding. Can I get a special wedding rate?
I do offer special elopement/city hall wedding rates! Shoot me an email, and I'd be more than happy to to help you create the perfect custom package.
What does "understitch" mean, and what does it have to do with photography?
As a technique, understitching is a special couture method of securing a facing or lining of a garment to ensure pristine, sharp, and beautiful interfaces, edges, and necklines.
As a concept, understitching is simple in theory, difficult in execution, simultaneously backstage hand and MVP, and is everything that I want my photography to reflect.
